These cute caterpillars make great gifts, and can be used as chip clips, paperweights and a variety of other uses. Kids love picking out the colors for these little guys.
What You Need: Clothespin; 4 decorative rock gems; pipe cleaner; googly eyes; scissors; glue (If kid-safe glue doesn’t hold as well as you’d like, adult may want to try a hot glue gun.)
How to Make It: Select decorative rocks to attach to clothespin. Glue 2 googly eyes to the one in front. Cut (adult job) small section of pipe cleaner. Slip pipe cleaner between first and second rock and secure with drop of glue. Let dry.

Here’s an easy craft that uses ready-made foam pieces and a small terra cotta pot. This is a great way to fill a short stretch of crafting time without needing to get out the glue and other messy supplies. (Although at FreePreschoolCrafts.com, we’re big fans of getting messy!)

What You Need: Terra cotta flower pot; adhesive-backed foam animals, bugs, flowers, etc.
How to Make It: Give each child a flower pot and offer a nice variety of foam pieces to choose from in decorating his or her special flower pot. These make a great gift.

Kids’ names fit perfectly on these little sleds that can be hung from the Christmas tree or in the classroom.

What You Need: 6 craft sticks; length of ribbon; glue; glitter glue.
How to Make It: Arrange 5 sticks in sled shape as shown, touching and on a flat surface. Spread glue on back of sixth stick and place it across the base, about 1 1/2″ from the top. Let dry and tie on ribbon. Use glitter glue to write child’s name. Optional: You could punch or cut out little mittens, hats and boots to glue to the sled to look like someone is using it!

Have preschoolers make a “herd” of these reindeer and decorate a whole tree!

How to Make It: Arrange 2 craft sticks in a V shape. Overlap third craft stick about 3/4 inches from top of V. Use glue to attach eyes and pom pom nose. Punch out and glue on 2 holly leaves and 3 berries (or whatever you’d like). Tie length of ribbon to both sides to hang ornament.

Within just a few minutes, your preschoolers will be off jingling these fun Christmas bracelets made from bells and a bumpy pipe cleaner. You could adapt this project to make rings or necklaces, too!

What You Need: Bumpy-style chenille stem (pipe cleaner); four gold or silver bells.
How to Make It: Thread bells though pipe cleaner, stopping in between the fluffiest parts. Adult may want to help twist pipe cleaner around bells to better secure them. Twist ends together to form bracelet.
